Family and Medical Leave Act

Introduced in 1993, the FMLA requires organizations with 50 or more workers to provide up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for health or family reasons. Examples of when the FMLA applies include the birth of a child, caring for a seriously ill family member, or looking after military personnel with serious health conditions.
