Furlough

A furlough is a temporary layoff or involuntary leave without pay for a set period. Organizations use furloughs for many reasons. It could be plant shutdowns or when a company restructure makes it unclear which employees will be retained. At the end of the furlough, the employee is expected to return to work or have a reduced work schedule.
